GET TO KNOW YOUR CC TRAINER, CHAVAUGN.

Today I am siting down with one of our Newport trainers, Chavaugn, to ask her a few questions about herself. Chavaugn is your ballet-infused, heart starting, killer burn teacher that I know you all love!

Chavaugn has such love for all things movement! She effortlessly ties her love for dance in with reformer pilates to ensure she is bringing you technical, spicy and fun classes that keep you all coming back!

Her love for the CC clients is second-to-none and I cannot wait to be able to share this all with you.

Enjoy this little read!

Describe yourself in 3 words.

My friends have described me as either a gay man trapped in a woman's body or the female version of JVN. I don't know if I have just three words...!

Can you tell us a bit about how you got started working in the Pilates space?

I grew up dancing, and as many of my clients know, I am also a dance teacher. Once I had finished school and wasn’t spending all my time in the dance studio, I needed to find a way to move my body as I found the gym so boring! I ended up trying a reformer class with a friend and fell in love. I realised how much it strengthened me in my dance training when I would go to an occasional class, helped with all my injuries and just generally made me feel amazing! After a few years of training as a client it was a no brainer to become a certified Pilates instructor.

What do you love most about being a Core Culture trainer?

Amazing clients, beautiful studio and all-around immaculate vibes.

If you weren’t a pilates teacher/fitness trainer, what do you think you’d be doing instead?

I definitely know that I can’t sit at a desk all day, but I am on my way to becoming a physio. I don't know if I would have figured that out if I wasn't working as a ballet teacher for so long or without my passion for Pilates?

What does a day in the life of Chavaugn look like?

Every day is a little different, but usually if I'm not teaching in the morning or heading straight into uni, I'll try to get a Pilates or gym class in. Then I'll generally divide my time up between uni work, planning chorey for my dance routines and if the weather is nice, getting outside or going for a swim before I head to teaching in the afternoon.

Where can we find you on the weekend?

During the Summer, you'll either find me at the beach or maybe attempting to play tennis with friends. In the afternoons, I'll probably be having a cheeky cocktail or two. In Winter, you'll find me swish-swishing down the slopes during the day and drinking wine in the spa later that night!

What is one thing you wish you could tell your younger self?

Confidence is key, just back yourself! I make sure I enforce/reiterate this to the kids I teach at dance, all the time!

Skiing in Japan!

Favourite CC Class Style?

I can’t go past a Cult Classic class, but I also love A Little Bitta TLC for those super stretchy, feel-good vibes.

What are you reading or watching atm?

Currently reading All Our Shimmering Skies by Trent Dalton. Boy Swallows Universe was one of my favourite reads of last year and I really love his writing style. I’m also reading Be Bold by Alexis Fernandez. Her podcast, Do you F*cking Mind, is amazing! I’ve recently got into Yellowstone... I feel like I’m a little behind on that trend.

Go-to activewear styling piece?

I love a set at the moment! I like to layer either a big t-shirt or an oversized linen shirt over-the-top while I'm running around before and after classes.
